As we stand, on the cusp
of a new dawn
the edge of a new age!
We must all look back to remember,
just where we all came from.
Those brave men and women,
who fought and died for us.
Those brave people who fought in courts and in streets,
for our freedoms, for our rights.
And as I close my eyes,
I can hear the battle cries,
of those long ago.
As they charged up hill,
Eyes facing near certain doom,
they never wavered.
The brave few who picked up the flag
to keep running on.
Those men and women who ran forward
to live for what they believed in.
Those brave soldiers, who are alive and not.
Those strong enough to never stop,
to never think to stop.
They are heros,
not fictional men in spandex.
No, heros are all around us,
A hero is the man who stands against injustice.
The woman who knows her rights.
Heros are those who are not afraid,
to stand for what they know and love.
Heros are those who protect their loved ones.
Heros, are the ones most quickly forgotten.
